During Ramadhan, Seven UN peacekeepers who were from Tanzania, were killed in Darfur. Their names were:

1. Sergent Shaibu Othuman, 
2. Corporal Oswald Chaula, 
3. Corporal Mohamed Juma, 
4. Corporal Mohamed Chikilizo, 
5. Pte. Rodney Ndunguru, 
6. Pte. Peter Werema,
7. Pte. Fortunatus Msofe.
